On 13 September, as a component of the Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum 2007, three Nobel Prize winners in economics were invited to deliver talks to more than 300 researchers and graduate students at a gathering jointly hosted by the CAS Institute of Policy and Management and the CAS Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences.

At the conference, Thomas C. Schelling, a 2005 Nobel Prize Winner, gave a talk entitled “Managing the greenhouse problem”; Robert Mundell, a 1999 Nobel Prize Winner, made a presentation with the title “How Long will the Dollar Era Last?”; and Edmund S. Phelps, 2006 Nobel Prize Winner, talked about issues concerning the global economy. They also had discussions with CAS researchers on various issues.
